The team started their visit with a courtesy meeting with Hon. Rotich Kiplangat, the CECM for Environment & Climate Change in Narok County, alongside Chief Officer Willy Loigero. They discussed their collaborative efforts to tackle environmental issues and foster sustainable development.

Field Visit to Restoration Sites.

The delegation continued to project sites in Enabelbel and Maji Moto, Narok, where they engaged with smallholder farmers and observed the significant effects of restoration efforts. Notable activities seen included:

·   Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR): A community-driven strategy for rehabilitating damaged land.

·   Agroforestry: Incorporating trees into agricultural practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.

·   Sustainable Livelihoods: Equipping farmers with the necessary skills and resources to enhance their financial stability.

Partnerships Driving Impact.

The Green Belt Movement was recognized as a crucial partner in the Global EverGreening Alliance’s Restore Africa Programme in Narok. Their initiatives have resulted in the distribution of 227,000 tree seedlings to chosen farmers in the region, greatly aiding reforestation and enhancing climate resilience.

A Commitment to Restoration.

This visit highlights the joint dedication of World Vision Kenya, the Global EverGreening Alliance, and local partners to rejuvenate degraded landscapes, tackle climate change, and enhance livelihoods. Initiatives such as FMNR and agroforestry enable communities in Narok to experience the restoration of their ecosystems and establish sustainable futures.
