Job Opportunity: Research Assistant at the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) in Brussels

The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to join its vibrant team in Brussels. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals interested in EU policies, especially democracy support. The selected candidate will report to the EPD Research Coordinator and work closely with the European Democracy Hub team.

Key Responsibilities.

As a Research Assistant, your duties will include:

1. Research and Data Collection:

  - Conducting desk research to gather information on EU democracy support policies and funding developments in 2025 from the EU, EU member states the UK, Norway, and Switzerland.

   - Prepare interview questions and conduct interviews with relevant staff from EU institutions and European governments.

   - Compiling research findings into documents and fiches for the annual review of European democracy support.

   - Contributing to the writing of the Annual Review of European Democracy Support. 

2. Research Project Implementation:

 - Collecting background information to create concept notes for research initiatives and specific outputs.

  • Overseeing the management of research outputs in projects overseen by EPD and the European Democracy Hub as required.

 3. Event Participation:

  - Take notes and create reports or minutes for internal meetings and pertinent EU events as needed.

 - Aid in organizing workshops and events associated with the European Democracy Hub.

- Execute additional tasks as directed by the Events and Communications Officer.

Requirements. 

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

- A recent graduate or young professional with a strong interest in and knowledge of EU policies, specifically regarding democracy support within Europe and external policies.

- Proficiency in written English.

- Motivation to learn and contribute to EPD’s work.

- Strong research interest; demonstrable research experience is an asset.

- Experience working on EU-funded research projects like Horizon Europe is advantageous.

- Creativity and enthusiasm for teamwork in a dynamic environment.

- Entitlement to work in the European Union.

  • Availability for a 6-month assignment.

Conditions and Benefits.

The Research Assistant position offers a 6-month assignment under a Contrat d’Immersion Professionelle, with the following benefits:

- Monthly allowance of EUR 997.09.
